I see no international future for G Jones, Read, Trescothick or Giles. Flintoff has shown that captaincy is not for him, nor should it be, too much on his plate I'm afraid. Fletcher? Too many errors on this tour, poor schedule and the most blinkered team selection seen since the days of Peter May.

But all is not bleak. If Vaughan comes back, who drops out? We have a good number of young seamers coming through Broad, Tremlett and Mahmood for instance, the return of Simon Jones? I hear good reports of the Worcestershire keeper Davies, having seen him last season he looked a good bat, sadly I didn't see him keep to anything but seamers, but he was tidy. He along with Foster and Prior are good alternatives. Then of course we have Monty.

I fear a poor World Cup showing is on the cards, perhaps this will be the catalyst for the few changes required.

Make Moores the coach, give Vaughan the captaincy back, send Harmison back to Durham for a season to remember how to bowl, make your mind up about Anderson, is he good enough?

Strauss, Vaughan, Cook, Bell, Pietersen, Flintoff, Davies, Broad, S Jones, Monty and Hoggard. Not a bad side, still need that number 8 bowler who can bat though.

The future is going to be OK, no matter what is happening now.
