| BILLY Bowden and Steve Bucknor will umpire the first Test of England's Ashes defence against Australia at the Gabbba later this month.
New Zealander Bowden and Bucknor from West Indies will share the umpiring duties with South Africa's Rudi Koertzen and Pakistan's Aleem Dar during the five-Test series.
Koertzen and Bucknor will stand in the second Test in Adelaide beginning on December 1.
Koertzen and Dar will officiate in the third and fourth Tests in Perth (beginning December 14) and Melbourne (26 December), and Bowden and Dar will stand in the fifth Test in Sydney, which begins on January 2.
The same umpires officiated when England reclaimed the Ashes last year.
New Zealand's Jeff Crowe will be the match referee for the first three Tests, with Sri Lanka's Ranjan Madugalle in charge for the final two. | |
